RSHA Approves 2022 Budget

The Rivers State House of Assembly has approved the sum of N483.173billion for the services of the state government for 2022 financial year commencing January 1 and ending December 31, 2022.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani said during plenary, yesterday that members agreed on the approval of the proposed total budget estimate as it will be funded by the internally generated revenue for the good of Rivers people.
The speaker also urged lawmakers to continue to put in the best effort as they have shown in plenary.
Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Enemi George while presenting the committee’s report on the budget said the 2022 estimate, which is premised on the 2022-2024 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) places top premium on the fiscal display and transparency in public revenue management.
Other lawmakers said the 2022 budget is comprehensive and is a reflection of good governance for the good of Rivers people.
The house adjourned sitting to Tuesday, December 21, 2021.
Recall that forthnight ago, the Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, proposed a budget estimate of N483,173, 307,096.00, for 2022 fiscal year to the state’s House of Assembly for consideration.
Wike said the budget christened, “Budget of Consolidation”, would focus on the state’s quest for greater economic growth and fiscal consolidation, enhancing jobs and wealth creation, building first-rate economic infrastructure, and achieving equity and social protection through poverty reduction and economic inclusiveness.
