The Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr Ahmed Audi has said that officers and men of the outfit would not rest on their oars until the issues of economic sabotage and other related issues were nipped in the bud.
Audi gave the assurance when 40 suspected oil thieves and other items were paraded at the command’s headquarters in Port Harcourt, last Wednesday.
The commandant, who was in the state on a working visit, advised those in such trade to either look elsewhere or relocate outside the country, as was no longer business as usual.
He revealed that the feat was achieved via the support of some sister agencies like the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Army.
The NSCDC boss, listed other items recovered from the economic saboteurs to include, 10 trucks, nine boats, 69 jerry cans/drums 100 petroleum pipes and 83 sacks filled with some liquid suspected to adulterated petroleum products at different locations in the state.

Accordingly, he said that the arrested suspects are currently undergoing investigations and would soon be charged to court for possible prosecution.
“I wish to inform the general public that the corps is poised to meet any group of persons or individuals intending to tamper with the critical national assets and Infrastructure within the state with stiff resistance”, he said.
Describing himself as no armchair commandant, he hinted about plans to maintain the tempo until the change in the system was sustained.
About the permanence of the state command, he rated them high, and added that there was either any mole or Judas in the system.
“I am overwhelmed with joy, emotions and happiness. I am also elated. I congratulate you all for all your efforts”, he said.
He was particular about the Anti-Vandalism Unit, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), which he said had resolved over 50 cases in the state while that of the Anti-VandalismUnit had made series of arrests and prosecutions.
To boost the morale of the personnel, he promised them of a gala night to celebrate and honour those who have been adjudged as committed and faithful.
“The era of ‘Monkey De Work, Bamboo De Chop’ is gone. Servants must serve with willingness and commitment, not eye service”, he said.
The command’s exhibit sites at Iriebe and Ogbogoro all in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area were visited by the NSCDC boss, as part of his official task in the state.
