The Chairman of Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt Supporters Club, Comrade Franklin Owhor, has said he is optimistic that Rivers United will play in the group stage at the ongoing CAF TotalEnergies Champions League.
According to him, with the calibre of players in the team they are expected to go beyond the group stage of the competition.
Comrade Owhor made the assertion last Sunday, shortly after Rivers United overran the Young Africans FC of Tanzania 1-0, in the second leg preliminary round of the CAF TotalEnergies Champions League, at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
He expressed joy over the outcome of the game, adding that the team gave the supporters, fans and Rivers people what they wanted.
“Our players were able to put on impressive performance by winning both home and away.
I think Young Africans FC is a big team in Tanzania because they have good financier and management.
In Tanzania they did their home-work perfectly by tracking down some of our players but we still won and gave the team the best treatment of their lives in Port Harcourt,” Comrade Owhor said.
He appealed to his members to be calm, saying that by next home  game in Port Harcourt, management of Rivers United FC will do everything possible to ensure all members attend to cheer the team to victory.
