For and promotion of peace and unity, before, during and after the April 17, 2021, Local Government Elections, HM King Leslie N. Eke, had warned against violence in order to maintain the existing peaceful coexistence in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
Eke gave the warning during the presentation of the  Obio/Apkor chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barr George Ariorlu at his palace for royal blessings and prayers at Woji in Obio/Apkor Local Government Area, yesterday.
He noted that the call was informed by Governor Nyesom Wike’s insistence on peaceful atmosphere.
The Eze Oha Evo III, who also warned against factional leadership, charged the PDP candidate to always tow the path of peace, if he was determined to succeed as a ruler.
One of the issues he must pay less attention to, was that of Chieftaincy, and added that he must thread with care.
“No violence, no destruction, it is the Governor’s LGA and must lead right in all ramifications for others to follow”, he said.
He also pointed out to the chairmanship candidate on the importance of keeping a close contact with the palace after his elections and subsequent swearing-in as chairman of the local government.
The Eze Gbakagbaka, said Governor Wike held traditional institutions and constituted authorities at a high esteem and added the Ariorlu must emulate same order to attain greater political heights.
The Obio/Akpor PDP, Chairman, Hon Chidi Amadi, who presented the party’s candidate for the chairmanship position for Saturday’s elections, said they were at the palace to receive royal blessings and to intimate the Evo King about their mission.
Corroborating the advice of the Monarch, Amadi said that they would do everything within their power to ensure that the elections were violence-free.
Earlier, Eze Eke had called on the Obio/Apor PDP chairmanship candidate, to also shun those things that might possibly hinder his success, and expressed hope that he would deliver on his electioneering promises based on the projects he had so far executed as a party candidate.
