WAFU Tourney: Eagles’ Stars Laud Eaglets

Super Eagles Assistant Captain, William Troost-Ekong and Kelechi Nwakali, have both commended the Golden Eaglets following their victory over Burkina Faso in the semi-final of the WAFU B tournament at the Stade de Kegue in Lome, Togo.
A 77th minute goal by Emmanuel Papo against the Young Stallions fired the Eaglets to the final of the 2021 WAFU U-17 tournament, where they will play Ivory Coast, who beat Niger 1-0 in the other semi-final fixture.
With the victory, the Eaglets also qualified for the 2021 U-17 AFCON in Morocco, which serves as qualifiers for the 2021 U-17 World Cup.
“The Eaglets are through to the final of the WAFU B U17 tournament and have also qualified for the U-17 AFCON in Morocco later in the year #Soar Golden Eaglets #Team9jaStrong,” the NFF tweeted.
Reacting to the tweet by the football body, Troost-Ekong wrote, “Well done boys! Keep making us proud! Next step AFCON.”
Nwakali wrote on his Instagram page, “Congrats guys as you prepare for the final game. Keep the spirit high, we can do it and prepare for the AFCON Nigeria.”
The Eaglets face Ivory Coast in the final match today at the Stade de Kegue, Lome.
