PAMO University of Medical Sciences Port Harcourt will churn out its first set of graduates next year.
The Pro Chancellor of the university and former Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili who said this at the First Founders Day Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service at the university campus said graduates from the university would make a difference in the affairs of the nation.
Odili said the university is a gift from God, adding that as an institution built on hallowed ground, all its activities would be done inline with the fear of God.
The former Governor also assured that the Founders Day thanksgiving service would be done annually by the institution.
Meanwhile, the Bishop, Diocese of Ikwerre Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion Rt. Rev. Dr. Blessing Chinyere Enyindah has condemned the high level of lawlessness by Nigerians.
Enyindah who said this in an exhortation at the service said the level of impunity in Nigeria was responsible for the present condition of the country.
He stressed the need for the university management to ensure that students and staff followed laid down principles.
The cleric warned that no rules should be bent irrespective of circumstances, stressing that as a university founded on Christian principles, obedience to the law must be strictly adhered to.
Enyindah also urged Nigerians to imbibe the fear of God as no nation or individual becomes great without the fear of God,
“Every little command of God matters.
“We need God’s grace in our lives. We have to submit our ways and will to God,” he said.
The cleric also commended former Governor Peter Odili for his numerous contributions to church while as Governor of Rivers State.
The service was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life.
