LG Boss Flags Off Construction Of Secretariat
The Chairman, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Engr. Samuel Nwanosike, has flagged off the construction of a new council secretariat complex in Isiokpo.
Nwanosike during the flag off, said, part of the project was the remodeling of perimeter fencing of the council and the rebranding of its main gate to give the secretariat a facelift.
Speaking at the event, Nwanosike said, “you do not have a business in politics, if you are not a promise keeper to your people”.
He regretted that the Secretariat was abandoned by the leadership of All Progressive Congress APC in their eight years in office without providing a place for the workers of the council.
Describing Ikwerre Local Government Area as the pride of other LGAs in the state, Nwanosike said, the construction of the new Ikwerre council Secretariat was one of his campaign promises
“We have resolved that this administration will construct new secretariat complex for Ikwerre people and renovate the old council complex, he said.
.Nwanosike said, he entered into a social contract with Ikwerre people to provide basic necessities of life if voted, noting that he is poised to give the dividend of democracy to his people.
The chairman said the new complex will be completed and commissioned in the next six months by the contractor and all departments would be fully accomodated .
The Council, he continued, would improve the welfare of its workforce by supporting the health sectors and in the payment of its allowances, adding that his administration, would continue with the Back To School and Back to Farm, programs to encouraged children to study in higher institutions and mothers to farm.
Earlier, Head of Local Government Administration, KELGA, Dr. Mrs Fortune Nne Okah lauded the chairman for embarking on the construction of a new Council Secretariat and remodelling of the perimeter fencing of the council, despite the low federal and the poor Internally Generated Revenue of the council .
