Worsening Insecurity: Reps Summon Minister, IGP, PSP

Worried by the worsening insecurity in the country and other burning security issues, the House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs yesterday summoned the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji  Mohammed Maigadi, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, PSC, Alhaji Musliu Smith and the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu to brainstorm on the issues.
Addressing the opening session of the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee Hon. Usman Bello Kumo lamented worsening security situation in the states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja and called for immediate action to tackle the menace.
The Committee who said that the leadership of the House was very worried about the lingering security challenges in the country told the Police high Command that whatever nomenclature is being given to should be tackled immediately as it was giving the citizens of the country a cause for concern.
Hon Kumo also lamented the current crisis between the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission over the recruitment of 15,000 Constables cadres into the force as approved by President Muhamadu Buhari, saying the House would do everything humanly possible to resolve the issue amicably as sensitive and responsible legislature.
According to him, “the leadership of the House of Representatives is worried over the rift between the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission, PSC, who are members of the same family as well as the worsening security in the country, we are intervening to see how these and other sensitive security issues are amicably resolved under closed doors meeting in the over interest of all”.
In his brief remarks,  the Minister of Police Affairs Alhaji  Mohammed Maigadi said that the present administration of President Muhamadu Buhari was committed to addressing insecurity in all the parts of the country.
