A pan-African students movement, Progressive Students Movement yesterday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to be steadfast and focused in his determination to deliver his campaign promises to Nigerians.
The group said that it “considers the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in the February 23 election as a true reflection of the mandate given to Buhari by millions of Nigerians”.
The president of the group in Nigeria, Mr Bestman Okereafor, stated this while speaking with newsmen on the tribunal judgment delivered in Abuja last Wednesday.
Okereafor also commended the judiciary for its professional conduct and unbiased judgment, calling on all state election tribunals to emulate same and dispense justice without fear or favour and devoid of political interference.
“The group salutes the doggedness of Atiku Abubakar for exercising his constitutional right by challenging the outcome of the elections in court (tribunal).
“We are passionately calling on him to accept the tribunal verdict with utmost good faith and support the Buhari-led administration for the development of our beloved country,” he said.
In a related development, a Lecturer at the Federal University of Technology Minna, Dr Bashir Yankuzu, has called on Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the main contender  in the presidential  election, to take the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in good faith and support President  Muhammadu Buhari.
“I expect Abubakar  now to put the election matters behind, cooperate with Buhari-led government for peace, progress and political stability in our country”, Yankuzu told  newsmen in Minna lastThursday in Minna.
He said that the judgment was a relief to the nation and opportunity for both the ruling party and opposition to work together for the common good of the country.
