Group Urges Youth To Shun Threats To Peace
A youth group, Committee of Youth on Mobilisation and Sensitisation (CYMS), has called on all youths across the country to shun all acts capable of threatening national security and peace.
Director General, CYMS, Mr Obinna Nwaka, made the call when he appeared on a personality interview programme of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Forum, yesterday in Abuja.
Nwaka called on youths to desist from anything that would be detrimental to the nation’s polity as it would affect their future negatively and the peace of the nation.
He said the call became necessary following the recent #RevolutionNow protest carried out by some youths in some parts of the country.
The youth leader said the so called protest was not only condemnable but also not the right way to show dislike for the government of the day or it’s policies and programmes.
“Our message for the youth is for them to be resolute, for them to desist from being used as part of unnecessary protest called, “revolution now”,
“The protest does not mean well for Nigeria and it cannot even contribute to their own future.
“It is even going to be at the detriment of their own future because they can be found as victims of circumstance.
“Even the Shi’ite protest, some people died during the protest, including people who were not part of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).
“But because they were in one way or the other close to the area of the protest they found themselves as a victim of circumstance,” he said.
