Anyone In Military Uniform In Polling Area is Impostor -GOC

Ahead of tomorrow’s Governorship and house of Assembly elections, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Land Component command, JTF OPDS, Major- General Jimil Sarham has said anyone seen in military uniform within the vicinity of any polling unit is an impostor and should be treated as such.
Major-General Sarham who stated this in a statement made available to newsmen urged the public with useful information about security breach to call 09027771482 immediately.
He reaffirmed the neutrality of the troops and assured on their commitment to remain a political as they conduct their assigned duties professionally.
He urged the troops to adhere to the rules of engagement and warned them to desist from fraternising with politicians and warned that defaulters would be sanctioned.
According to him, “ It has come to our notice that some sponsored miscreants are planning to use military like fatigue dress pretending to be troops of Nigeria Army to perpetrate carriage at polling centres, this plan has failed as any soldier is seen in the vicinity of any polling unit would be regarded a an impostor and should be treated as such.
To the teeming law abiding citizens, we wish to reassure you of our resolve to provide safe and conducive atmosphere in conjunction with other security agencies to enable you exercise your franchise without fear of molestation. We wish to also solicit continued support and cooperation in tackling all acts, she said.
