Ozuzu Holds Cycling Competition, ’Morrow
About 2000 Cyclists are to participate in the First Edition of Ozuzu, in Etche Local Government Area, Rivers State, Cycling competition, scheduled to hold Tomorrow.
The competition is open for both professionals and nonprofessionals; also local and professional cycles are allowed to be used in the race.
Director of sports in the State, Evangelist Ezekiel Ordu, who is the sponsor of the competition, said N100, 000 will be up for grabs for winners on 1st to 10th position.
According to him, the competition is to develop sports at the grassroots level, most especially cycling.
“I want to develop sports at the grassroots; there are so many hidden talents in the rural areas, which most of us don’t know. I believe with this competition we are going to discover some of them.
I also want to use this competition to foster the existing peace and unity in the community, because I know a sport is a catalyst for peace and unity.
Meanwhile race will take off from Ozuzu at 7.00am, through Isu, Ogida, Owu, Egbu , Ihe and back to Ozuzu.
