Scores of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rumueme Ward 10 in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State have defected to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).
They announced their defection during the inauguration of a pro-PDP group known as the Wike Continuity Movement in the area.
Leader of the defectors, Azunda Edward said they returned to the PDP following the numerous quality projects executed by the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
According to Edward, “We have been in a ship, on a voyage and in course of the voyage, we discovered that we were sinking into an endless destination. We have been in the APC without good things.
“But having seen what His Excellency (Wike) is doing in our state, we say no, all we owe him is to give him our maximum support to enable him continue the good works he is doing.
“And that is the reason we have come here. We are not interested in what APC is doing. The various court judgements. The Supreme Court judgement, the Appeal Court judgement have made a definition that every reasonable person will know what to do.
“So we (the defectors) have come to assist PDP in doing more to the ones the Governor is doing. Look at all the roads the governor has done, including the Elelenwo Road that was deplorable”.
