FIFA U-20 Women W/Cup: Nigeria Crashes Out

Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team, the Falconets, yesterday at the GNY Piriou Stadium crashed out of the 2018 U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup at the quarter finals of the competition holding in France after they lost 2-1 to their Spanish counterparts.
This is the seventh time Nigeria is making it to the quarter finals of the competition in nine appearances.
The first ten minutes of the quarter final tie was more of the Spanish as they never made the semi final in the history of the competition.
However, the Spaniards took the lead in the 13th minute of the match through Bonmati curls and increased their goal tally at the dying minute of the first half.
As the second half resumed the Falconets raised their game to bring down the pressure of the Spanish as they escaped a well taken free kick from the cross bar.
The Falconets who missed some of their scoring chances fought to bring down the goals tally of opponents this continue till the 57 minute when peace Efih scored the first when goal to reduce the scoreline.
However, the Falconets were not able to level score lines as they failed to equalize at the end of the encounter.`
