RSG Ready For Mini Sports Fiesta

Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Boma Iyaye has reiterated that the State Government is fully set to stage the maiden edition of the Rivers State Sports Development Initiative (RSSDI) for Under 17.
The fiesta would be a prelude to the sports festival also being planned for this year.
He stated that the State Government has budgeted N5million to organise a successful sports fiesta aimed at unearthing and harnessing sports talents at the grassroots.
The Commissioner who was represented by the permanent secretary ministry of sports, James Enebeli, made this known during a stakeholders meeting organised by the Implementation Committee of RSSDI, at the Multi Purpose Hall, in Alfred Diete Spiff Sport Complex, Moscow road, Port Harcourt. According to him, the purpose of the sports competition is to reawaken and sustain youth’s interest in sports and harness the potentials of young talents that would represent the State at any level in terms of sports.
“As I speak, the State government is fully set to financially and otherwise hold the sports competition.
Besides that, the sum of N5million has been budgeted to ensure a successful sports fiesta” Hon. Iyaye said.
He further explained that the essence of inviting Local Government Council Chairmen is to ensure that all the LGAs participated adequately.
Also speaking at the occasion, the State Director of Sports, Ezekiel Ordu said that the Sports Council was ready in all ramifications to take sports to the next level in the State.
Ordu also expressed readiness to host one of the best mini sports Festivals in the State.
