Lawmaker Task CTC Chairmen On People-Oriented Projects
The Lawmaker representing Obio/ Akpor Constituency 2 in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr Michael Chindah has charged caretaker committee chairmen in the state to go beyond just payment of salaries and initiate projects for the good of the people. Michael Chindah said it was sad that caretaker committee chairmen in the state were not utilising the remaining balance of their monthly allocations after payment of salaries for any meaningful development in their respective local government area.
He said the state government was finding it difficult to access some rural local government areas because the councils have not done any thing to help the state government.
He urged councils to embark on planning, adding planning is the basic pre occupation of local government councils and not for them to handover their responsibilities to the state government.
Local government councils, the legislator said should complement effort of the state government by embarking on preliminary planning, adding that the gesture would make the professionals in the councils to be meaningfully engaged.
