The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo has charged handlers of the Niger Delta Icons project to research deeper into the great accomplishments of icons in the region.
In a statement from the Government House in Port Harcourt, Banigo described the Niger Delta Icons project as a worthwhile compendium of who is who in the region.
She said there are many unsung heroes whose contributions to society remain very profound but remain relatively unknown.
Banigo opined that the Niger Delta Icons when published will serve as an additional memoir for researchers and scholars of the history of the region.
The deputy governor, who commended handlers of the project and the publishers for their commitment and service, urged them to see to the completion of the project.
Banigo, who is the first female elected deputy governor in the state, advised handlers of the Niger Delta Icons to beam special satellite on the achievements of women.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Editorial Board of Niger Delta Icons, Chief Soye Jamabo-Ogboru has hinted that the first female Professor in Ogoni land, Prof Roseline Konya is among 319 others already listed.
He enjoined others yet to forward their updated profiles to do so before the April 15 deadline.
