Minority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly Hon. Fredrick Anabraba had debunked claims that he has been suspended from his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker, while speaking on a phone-in radio programme recently in Port Harcourt, said the claim was false and misleading.
Anababa said the suspension and expulsion had been declared null and void by the national secretariat of the party, which is the top authority overseeing such matters.
He recalled that the fur our which trailed his election as the minority leader of the State Assembly had been laid to rest by the court, and that even the top hierarchy of the party had investigated the matter, maintaining the status quo.
Calling on the public to support the State House of Assembly in the quest to transform the state through effective legislation, Anabraba assured that, “the house will always make laws that will affect the people positively, so I will urge our people to have confidence in the assembly”.
Speaking on the recently assented Rivers state Neighbourhood Safety Corps bill, the legislator regretted the widespread misconception about the law.
He maintained that the law was not aimed at the opposition but rather to boost security and promote civilian-police relationships.
“The agency covers areas of lapses by the security agencies and will to bring into conformity operations of vigilante groups in the state”, Anabraba said.
