AWC Mascot Appeals For Support

The mascot of the just concluded African Wrestling Championship (AWC), Samuel Edwin has appealed to the Rivers State government to support him in all ramifications.
Edwin who has played several mascots in other sporting events in the state made the appeal in an exclusive interview with Tidesports yesterday in Port Harcourt.
According to him, he started playing mascot in 2009, saying that playing mascot is what he likes to do best, but there is need to improve on it.
“I have been into mascot role since 2009, but most of the jobs I got always come through third party.
I am appealing to the state government to assist me financially to enable me buy some materials to improve my career” Edwin said.
He equally explained that he had created employment for over 30 boys and girls who work for him any time he is called to perform.
“Before I start playing mascot I was a goalkeeper for the defunct Dolphins FC Feeder team, later I was advised by then coach of the team, Musa Abdullahi, to leave Football and go for Mascot”, he stated.
Edwin used the forum to thank the State Commissioner for Sports Hon. Boma Iyaye for encouraging him.
“I really thank the Commissioner For Sports, Hon. Boma Iyaye for using me as Mascot in most of the sporting events in the state”, he added.
