Supreme Court’s Judgement Vindicates Wike – Emeh
The ruling of the Supreme Court, last Wednesday, declaring Sen Ahmed Markafi as the authentic leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been described as a vindication of the principled stand of the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike on the party’s leadership crisis.
A former Commissioner for Transport in the state, Chief Emeh Glory Emeh, made this declaration in a chat with newsmen at the Port Harcourt International Airport, while awaiting the arrival of the governor from Abuja.
According to the political strategist, Wike has always believed that the correct things should be done, as a man who is not given to telling lies.
“The governor had always maintained, yes, I acknowledge Ali Modu Sherrif because of what people say about him but I don’t know him as a person”, Emeh recalled, adding that when the governor discovered the other side of Sherrif, it dawned on him that PDP cannot make progress with such a person.
“In spite of all the entreaties, all the lobbying, all the disappointments by his colleagues, he stood by the truth that Sherrif is not the right person to lead a big party like PDP. And so, he had to fight for it. And today, he has been vindicated, he has been justified that the truth is the best way to go”, Emeh maintained.
Responding to a question, the Emohua-born political mathematician said the victory of the Makarfi group will spur him to embrace those who are willing to work for the party.
“He has always said that no one person can do it. He will be open to all the people who would have been on the other side of the divide. As a big party that can win election in Nigeria, those who are with Sherrif will certainly come and work with those who are with Makarfi, but what is common is that they are all PDP.
“And we thank God that what has happened will not go anywhere to divide the party. The party will remain united, as one indivisible organisation”, Emeh added.
