Rivers Plans New Industrial Park

Rivers State Government is tinkering with plans to establish an industrial park that will stimulate economic production of local goods and products..
The State Governor, Chief Wike made the plans public during the second year anniversary of his administration and interactive session with citizens of the state at Dr. Obi Wali Conference Centre  last Monday in Port Harcourt.
He observed that while infrastructure development has led to boom in tourism and foreign investment in the state, there was need to find sustainable ways of driving growth and utilizing local resources.
Wike regretted that while progress have been made in many sectors, most of the communities are still lagging behind and many youths yet to get employment.
However, he explained that the park will drive future economic growth and empowerment through diversification and export driven policies, “we must find other ways to economic and our commitment to economic renaissance remain top.”
The governor assured youths of the state that his administration will not fail them, while urging them to remain peaceful, focused and eschew all forms of anti-social behaviour  and criminality.
He said in the next 50 years, the state will is bent in ensuring that the vision of the founding fathers are achieved, and sued for support and commitment from everybody.
Meanwhile, some stakeholders and youths have called on the governor to provide more empowerment scheme for the people.
John Chigbem and Victor Dike called on the government to improve on agriculture as a way of providing jobs for teeming youths.
In his response, the governor assured those youths who were granted amnesty that they will be trained in crafts and set up to do their own business
He also disclosed plans that some youth will be sent to Israel to learn modern agriculture and thereafter will be set up to establish their own farms.
