16 people Killed in Car Accidents in Kaduna
On Saturday, May 13, and Sunday, May 14, two unfortunate tragedies took place in Kaduna State.
At these days during the car accidents at two federal spots, 16 persons were killed. Among them, there were six female leaders of the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ.
Naij News informs about the accidents from the words of Salish Umar Galadunci, the Federal Road Safety Corps’ Sector Head of Operations in Kaduna.
The first one occurred at about 1635hrs at Kajuru Junction, Maraba Rido Kachia Road, which is located in Chikun LGA of the state. Toyota Starlet and Toyota Hummer bus were moving in the same direction. However, they crashed and caught fire with eighteen people inside. How did it happen?
Five women and a bus-driver, who was conveying them from Kebbi State, were killed in that car accident. The national women leaders attended the inauguration of the church. Among the women who were killed in the hazardous car crash, was well-known Lydia Nuhu Idzi, the wife of an ex-ERCC Secretary General, Sanga LGA in Kaduna State.
According to Umar Galadunci, the first vehicle tried to cut a motorcyclist who was just crossing the road when it crashed into another approaching car, and straight away went up in flames, burning up thirteen of the eighteen persons in Toyota Hummer bus. As a result, thirteen people died, five individuals were heavily injured, and five persons were injured.
The remains of the dead were deposited at the mortuary of Saint Gerard Catholic Hospital located in the capital — Kaduna.
Alongside with this, Umar Galadunci informed Naij News about another rescue operation. It took place on Saturday, May 13, near Mazuga Village, approximately 11 kilometers away from Kachia-Kafanchan Road. It was carried out by the sector command staff. The accident involved two cars. These are Audi Salon and Opel Vectra. The latter one had not any registration number. When the cars collided, there were seven people in both of them. As a result, three people were killed, and four were injured.
According to FRSC official, among the items found in Audi, they found five AK-47 rifles and one magazine. The car driver`s name is Sabo Goni. He was heavily injured in the car crash; therefore, doctors forbade talking to him for some time. Kachia police immediately started the investigation. AK-47 guns were delivered to the DPO, Kachia Division.
