NVBF Wants States To Sponsor Coaches
Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) has appealed to all the State Sports Councils to sponsor their volleyball coaches to attend the high performance coaching course slated to hold in Cairo, Egypt from 10th through 15th May, this year, to be organised by Confederation of Africa Volleyball (CAVB).
This was contained in a letter signed by the general secretary of NVBF, Maikano Adamu, which was made available to Tidesports on Friday.
According to the letter, participants will benefit in all ramification, most especially the State’s Volleyball teams, because new rules, techniques and what is obtainable internationally will be taught at the seminar.
In Rivers State, the Chief Coach of Volleyball team Opakiriba Harry who is one of the nominees by NVBF to attend the course has also applied to the State government, multinationals, corporate organisations and sports philanthropists to assist him financially to attend the seminar.
According to him, government alone cannot do everything in terms of Sports development in Nigeria, adding that bringing sports to its desired level in the country will be collective responsibility.
“I am using this forum to appeal to multi-nationals, corporate organisations and sports philanthropists to assist me financially to attend the course in Egypt. This I will in turn teach others what I was taught.” Harry said.
He continued that the seminar if attended would further improve volleyball in the State, as we will impact the knowledge gained to others.
“Such courses are good because it is developmental. It will eventually improve the game. Apparently new techniques, laws and rules will be taught in the course,” he added.
