Godfrey Oboabona has said that Nigeria’s Super Eagles cannot afford to miss out on the 2018 World Cup in Russia after they failed to qualify for the last two AFCONs.
The Rizespor of Turkey central defender said qualification for the World Cup in Russia was crucial and Nigeria has what it takes to clinch it ahead of Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia.
“We have all it takes as a team and country to qualify for 2018 World Cup in Russia,” he said.
“We just have to take every game seriously and do what is right at every point.
“Getting the World Cup ticket is important to us as individual players, as a team and as a country after we failed to qualify for the Nations Cup 2015 and 2017.”
The former Sunshine Stars captain said he will present himself for selection after he has been left out of the team lately.
“It’s amazing and a great feeling to play for Nigeria. I am a Nigerian and I am willing to play for my country any time I am called upon and I will surely give my best as always,” he vowed.
