A youth leader in
Akwa Ibom State, Ambassador Francis Eno, has expressed worry over the continued destruction of oil and gas installations  by  the militants.
Eno who is the President, Core Oil Producing Communities Youth Leaders of Nigeria, told journalists in Uyo that apart from the destruction of oil installation, the impact of the damage on the environment was also a source of worry.
“I have vigorously campaigned against the use of violence in addressing any grievances. We must explore meaningful dialogue at all times,” he said.
Eno  who noted that the situation of things in the Niger Delta region had got to an alarming rate, urged the Federal  to involve youth leaders in meaningful discussions to identify grey areas and proffer solutions.
He urged the militant youths to end  the destruction for the sake of people of the area who were living and those yet to come stressing that the massive damage of the ecosystem will make it near impossible for the people  to practise agriculture which was their main stay.
The youth president equally condemned what he described as huge spills of oil in the region by the oil multinationals operating in the region and their unwillingness to clean up the spills.
“Some of our fishermen  now toil endlessly in the high sea without any catch and their  livelihood depends on fishing”, he stated and stressed the need for the oil  firms to clean up the spills as well as pay compensations.
