Retired Justice Daisy
Wotube Okocha was among eminent Nigerian female judges honoured at the just concluded Annual Conference of the National Association of Women Judges of Nigeria (NAWJN) held at the National Judicial Institute, NJI, Abuja.
The citation for the award paid tribute to her ingenuity in stabilising the Rivers State judiciary following the crisis which caused the closure of courts for about one year between May 2014 and June 2015.
It would be recalled that Justice Daisy Wotube Okocha was sworn-in as the first female Chief Judge of Rivers State on January 4, 2016 after serving in acting capacity, a development that was described as a victory for the rule of law by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike.
She retired on January 15, 2016. Also appreciated by the NAWJN were two other female judges from Rivers State. They are Justice Adanma Iyayi Lamikaran and the President of the Customary Court of Appeal; Justice Christy Gabriel Nwankwo
