Rector Tasks Students On Sports
Students have been
advised to take additional interest in sports, as it is capable of developing them all round and prepare them for tomorrow.
The advice was given by the Rector of port Harcourt Polytechnic, Dr Samuel B. Kalagbor, during the annual sports festival of the institution at the weekend.
Kalagbor urged the students not to rest restrict themselves to football alone but should be able to excel in their academic pursuit and other activities that would bring development in their lives.
“Our youth should be productive and must engage themselves not just in academic activities but other activities especially, sports which can open alternative route to Sumrall”, he said.
According to him without education there could not be any meaningful development among the young ones and the country as a whole.
The rector further advised those who have prospect of going beyond the school team to work very hard, adding that hard work is the easiest way to success.
Kalagbor also applauded teams that qualified for the event’s find, noting that they worked hard to be where they found themselves.
According to him, the entire college remains proud of them, adding that the management of the school will always support them at national and international levels. He further expressed hope that within a short time, the college will produce individuals that will be household names in state and national teams.
Also speaking the most valuable player of the final, Anthony John from the department of Business Administration expressed happiness for being awarded the honour.
He urged the players to always he dedicated and hardworking so that they will always standout in their various team.
The department of legal and global studies beat their business administration counterparts 4-2 to emerge overall winners of this years football final.
