A youths group under
the aegis of  Youth Ablaze, a non-Governemntal Organisation (NGO) in Rivers, State has  challenged the government to create employment opportunities for young  persons in the state.
Leader of the group, Mr Charley Buate, made the call  at an empowerment seminar organised  by the group to mark its 3 third year anniversary in Port Harcourt at the weekend.
Buate  stated that the aim of the group is to create enabling environment for the youth to acquire extra skills that would make  them employable or self reliant.
He further said the high rate of mass movement of  young people to neigbouring nations in search of job was alarming and called for urgent steps to be taken to curb the trend.
He stated that “given the current economic challenge in the country, the government  needed to critically address the challenge and create employment for young persons.
He lamented the unnecessary loss of  lives of persons  trying to cross from one border to another  in search of greener pastures,  saying “this  needless  fatalities could be  averted, if government provided adequately for the different  demographic  categories.
He appealed to government to provide infrastructure to improve living conditions and help better the quality of lives of the people.
He called on youths to empower themselves by learning skills to improve  themselves.
