Youth Task Govt On Employment Opportunities
A youths group under
the aegis of Youth Ablaze, a non-Governemntal Organisation (NGO) in Rivers, State has challenged the government to create employment opportunities for young persons in the state.
Leader of the group, Mr Charley Buate, made the call at an empowerment seminar organised by the group to mark its 3 third year anniversary in Port Harcourt at the weekend.
Buate stated that the aim of the group is to create enabling environment for the youth to acquire extra skills that would make them employable or self reliant.
He further said the high rate of mass movement of young people to neigbouring nations in search of job was alarming and called for urgent steps to be taken to curb the trend.
He stated that “given the current economic challenge in the country, the government needed to critically address the challenge and create employment for young persons.
He lamented the unnecessary loss of lives of persons trying to cross from one border to another in search of greener pastures, saying “this needless fatalities could be averted, if government provided adequately for the different demographic categories.
He appealed to government to provide infrastructure to improve living conditions and help better the quality of lives of the people.
He called on youths to empower themselves by learning skills to improve themselves.
