‘Rerun Poll’s Date, Tentative’

toral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Elder Ikoiwak says the July 31 date of the Rerun legislative elections in Rivers State has not been confirmed.
Ikoiwak, who revealed this when he met with the leadership of political parties in the state  on  Monday, said, the national headquarters is yet to confirm the date, noting that as soon as that is done, all stakeholders will be informed.
He urged the party leaders and stakeholders to go back home and sensitise their members on the need to maintain peace during and after the elections.
According to him, “we are going through all these again because the people have failed to learn.
One of the participants in the meeting and chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Engineer Joshua Worlu said his party is ready for the election as some of the members and candidates had started meeting secretly.
Worlu warned that INEC and the government should put adequate security in place to halt any violence during or after the election.
