Wike Dispels Fears Over Security Deployment …Plans Bakana, Abalama, Abonnema Reclamation

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, says the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) will win in next Saturday re-run elections for National and state House of Assembly seats despite plans by the opposition to use the military and security agencies to manipulate results.
Speaking at Ahoada Town on Saturday during the flag-off of Rivers West Senatorial District campaigns covering eight local government areas in Kalabari and Orashi region, Wike maintained that the ruling party will repeat the feat of April 11th, 2015, elections.
“We will not go to the tribunal; we will win again and again,” the governor emphasized.
He, however, blamed the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Governor Chibuike Amaechi over plans to use security agencies to cause problems ahead and during the elections.
Calling on Rivers people to be aware of the antics of the opposition, he said, “Rivers people must make sacrifice to protect their votes. With one man one vote, APC will not win one vote.”
The governor enjoined PDP faithful to be law abiding during the elections, while urging them not to give room for hijacking of materials, adding that “as you do your accreditation, you are also casting your vote, and so, don’t panic”.
Similarly, the state governor has hinted of government plans to create new towns in three Kalabari Local Government Areas of Degema, Akuku-Toru and Asari-Toru.
He revealed that government will reclaim land in Bakana in Degema, Abalama in Asari-Toru and Abonnema in Akuku-Toru to provide land for the indigenes.
Earlier, Wike had visited the Eze Ekpeye Logbo, Eze Robinson O. Robinson and his council of chiefs, where he solicited for their support to the government, and sued for peaceful elections, as he promised provide more infrastructure for the people of Ahoada.
Wike also disclosed plans to construct Ochigeba Road, including dualizing the Ahoada/Omoku Road.
Highlights of the campaign include presentation of flags to the various candidates by Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, and South-South Chairman of the party, Hon Cairo Ojugbo.
Senatorial candidate of the Rivers West, Osinakachuku Ideozu, pledged on behalf of the candidates, to protect the integrity of Rivers people and effective representation.
In a related development, Governor Nyesom Wike, has declared that the APC government can deploy as many security agents as they want for the rerun elections, but the vigilant people of the state will courageously protect their votes and mandate.
Addressing thousands of PDP faithful in Abua/Odual Local Government Area during a special thanksgiving service to commemorate his Supreme Court victory, Wike accused the APC-led Federal Government of playing politics with security of lives and property in Rivers State.
He said that over the last nine months, the Federal Government has redeployed three police commissioners in the state with the heads of other security agencies juggled frequently to ensure that they don’t have a grasp of the security situation on ground.
On security in the state, Wike stated that he has provided logistics support to all security agencies to enable them tackle cult-related  violence in different communities, noting that several cultists have been arrested by different security agencies in the state, with most of them facing prosecution.
He said the fact that APC leaders claim the corpses of victims of cultism prove the security information that the party was sponsoring cult-related violence in the state.
On the completion of abandoned projects, the governor said that he was committed to ensuring that finances of the state are not wasted.
He noted that his administration has completed and initiated new projects across the key urban centres in line with the need to revive decaying infrastructure.
Wike, however, said that his administration will not complete the monorail project because it is not relevant to the state.
He said since peace has returned to Abua/Odual Local Government Area, his administration will commence the construction of roads and rehabilitation of schools in the area.
Also speaking, PDP House of Representatives candidate for Abua/Odual/Ahoada-East constituency, Mrs Betty Apiafi, commended he governor for his outstanding achievements which have lifted the living standards of the people.
At the palace of the Traditional Ruler of Abua/Odual Local Government Area, King Kaleh Obuge, the monarch blessed Wike for his commitment to the development of the state.
