The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, has condoled with the families of those that lost their loved ones during the recent military raid in Ogoniland.
While expressing shock at the death toll, Banigo, in a statement through her Press Secretary, Paul Damgbor, expressed appreciation with the timely fact-finding visit of the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike to Yeghe and Bori to ascertain the true position of the incident that led to the unnecessary crisis and deaths.
The deputy governor noted that the governor’s intervention would restore peace, rekindle confidence and encourage those that fled their homes to return.
Banigo urged the Ogoni people to be peaceful, united and heed to the appeal of the governor not to take laws into their hands, assuring that the state government was on top of the matter.
She advised youth of the area not to allow desperate politicians to use them for their selfish interests.
