APGA Candidate Tasks INEC On Rivers Re-run Polls
The All Progressives Grand
Alliance (APGA) candidate for Port Harcourt Federal Constituency in the Rivers State re-run poll, Hon Brave Wobo, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct credible re-run elections in the state.
Speaking in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, Hon. Wobo said the re-run elections in Rivers State would serve as litmus test for INEC to save itself from the ignoble traits that characterized the conduct of previous elections in the country.
He described the change of the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State as a good step, and urged the new Resident Electoral Commissioner, Aniede Ikoiwak to choose the path of honour and integrity by ensuring fair and credible re-run elections in the State.
Hon. Wobo hinted that the era where politicians hide under the names and cloaks of party influence to win elections were over, noting that politicians aspiring to represent the people, “must have a sense of grassroots involvement and be chosen directly by the people to represent them.”
He called for a reform of the Nigeria electoral process to ensure that the citizens rights of participation counts, and the Electoral umpire becomes truly independent.
Hon Wobo listed youth empowerment as his foremost priority and assured of effective representation of his constituency if elected as a member of the House of Assembly.
