Go Round/SWAN Athletics Unveils Mascot,’Morrow
The Main Organising
Committee (MOC) of the forthcoming Go Round/SWAN Secondary Schools Athletics Championship scheduled to commence at the end of the month in set for the official unveiling ceremony of the championship’s mascot.
The unveiling ceremony is scheduled to hold tomorrow at the Erest Ikoli NUJ Press Centre, Moscow Road Port Harcourt.
Speaking in a press briefing on Friday, Chairman of the MOC, Honour Sirawoo said that arrangement has been concluded to hold a successful ceremony that would kick start a flurry of activities preparatory to the championship proper.
Tidesports learnt that a minimum of three Commissioners in the state have indicated interest to partner the competition and be part of the mascot unveiling ceremony. Also, local government chairman, sports administrators, students and media chiefs are expected to be part of the ceremony.
It was learnt that the ceremony will be under the distinguished Chairmanship of Rt Hon Austin Opara while Hon Boma Iyaye, the Commissioner for Sports is the Special Guest of Honour.
Ex-international and Sports Technocrat, Chief Adokiye Amiesimaka MON, JP is the chief unveil while the Amanyanabo of Opabo Kingdom and chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Majesty, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, JP, Jeki V will be the Royal Father of the day.
Mr Sirawoo urged every sports enthusiast and stakeholders to be part of the mascot unveiling ceremony and the championship proper when it commences at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex, Port Harcourt.
