Cleric Calls For Improved Welfare For Veterans

Central Mosque in Abia State, Alhaji Hamza Goni, has called on the Federal Government to evolve programmes that would improve the welfare of war veterans.
Goni made the call while conducting a Jumat service organised as part of the 2016 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in Umuahia recently.
He said that it was pertinent for the government to introduce programmes that would aid in adequately appreciating the efforts of all war veterans in the country.
He said that the celebration should be  used by the nation to evaluate itself on how well it had handled the yearnings of its veterans.
Goni appealed to relevant agencies to expedite action to ensure that the Day would not be “for mere celebration’’.
He urged Muslim faithful to continue to pray for all men and women in the Nigerian Armed Forces as well as for the peace and stability of the nation.
