Federation Cup Final For PH?

Port Harcourt may
again come to the rescue of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to stage the final of this year’s Federation Cup as Lagos is likely to decline to play host to the cup final.
A top official told Tidesports there is no love lost between former Lagos Governor Babatunde Fashola and his successor Ambode and this has caused NFF programmes around Lagos to be cancelled as the new administration believe they were initiated by Fashola.
“This ‘Lagos politics’ was the main reason, not fear of Ebola, the AFCON qualifier between Sierra Leone and Cote d’Ivoire was not played in Lagos and Rivers State Government came to the rescue of the NFF by agreeing to stage it on Sunday at such short notice,” said one top official.
“The Federation Cup final may suffer such fate with what is going on in Lagos politics now.”
Lagos, under Governor Fashola, hosted the last four Federation Cup finals.
Lobi Stars will battle fellow Nigeria premier league side Akwa United for this year’s Federation Cup with the winners representing Nigeria at next year’s CAF Confederation Cup.
