Rivers Angels Target Unbeaten Season
Head coach of Nigeria
Women Federation League (NWPL) Champions, Edwin Okon has said that the team intends to maintain its unbeaten run till the end of the season.
Okon made the statement shortly after the team played a 2-2 draw against hosts, Capital City Doves FC last week in one of the Week Nine (9) fixtures of the on-going NWFL Competition in Abuja.
“We still thank God for the draw, we still have many games to play, so we are gong to work hard towards our matches” Okon said.
According to him, Rivers Angles is a big team and they would not mind those players in camp. They are currently using the ones that are in the house, saying that, if those players in camp were at home, at the end of the day, they would ensure that the team maintains its lead till the end of the season.
“I want to see our unbeaten run continue till the end of the season”, Okon added.
On her part, coach of Capital City Doves Ngozi Ezeh said her girls were improving.
“The game is okay, when I come to Port Harcourt I was just building a team you understand, because, the league just began when we were still coming together. We were about two, three weeks from the league when we came to Port Harcourt. I went to Taraba and drew our match last weekend, I came back home and drew again. So my girls are improving”, Ezeh said.
The Angles have however extended their unbeaten run to six matches after playing a -22 draw against Capital City Doves of Abuja.
Rivers Angels, are new leading their group B with 19 points from seven matches played so far in the league.
Meanwhile, the Week 10 fixtures between the Angels and Pelican Stars of Calabar ended in a walk-over as the visitors failed to show up. This has raised the Angels points from 16 to 19 for 10 matches played so far.
