Nigeria Confirms Friendly With Uganda In Uyo
Nigeria has confirmed
that it will now play Uganda next week Thursday in Uyo after Bolivia pulled out of a friendly with the Super Eagles after citing “tense political situation” in the country.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced the Uganda friendly on their Twitter handle yesterday.
Both Uganda and Nigeria will use the match to prepare for the qualifying tournament for 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
Both of them failed to qualify for the 2015 AFCON in Equatorial Guinea.
Nigeria beat the Cranes of Uganda 1-0 in their last meeting in Abeokuta in 2007.
Officials have also disclosed they have asked for compensation from Bolivia for their last-minute withdrawal from a planned friendly in Uyo.
Nigerian presidential elections are fixed for March 28 amid growing fears of violence.
