Nigeria Football Fed
eration President, Amaju Pinnick, has stated that he expects Stephen Keshi to accept a new contract handed him by the Federation.
Keshi had raised concerns over several clauses in a new two-year deal, describing it as a “slave contract”.
But last week Keshi through his lawyers expressed intent to handle the Eagles with a meeting scheduled to hold between both parties today.
“Nobody arm twisted us to hand a contract to Stephen Keshi,” said Pinnick.
“We took our time to put the contract together. We made sure that it went through all the departments to ensure that nothing is left out and to avoid any form of litigation. We tailored the contract with the global best practices.
“The contract covers everybody, the NFF and even the coach. Keshi has done a lot for the country, he may have made his mistakes but he ensured that local players competed for places in the team.
“We expect him to either say yes or no to the contract, but if I were Keshi, I would accept the contract.”
Meanwhile, Mali is the latest team to be linked with the former Togo coach after they fired Frenchman Henryk Kasperczak.
Kasperczak’s contract will not be renewed, according to FEMAFOOT.
Keshi, who handled Mali between 2008 and 2010, could well return to Mali, according to media reports out of Bamako
Several coaches have since applied for the top post including Keshi and Frenchmen Alain Giresse and Patrice Carteron, who handled the Eagles at the 2013 AFCON in South Africa.
FEMAFOOT said they will announce a new coach on March 25, the  day they will take on Gabon in a friendly in Beauvais in the Paris region.
