Siasia has promised a better showing by Nigeria U-23 team after they needed two late second-half goals to see off Gabon in Abuja at the weekend.
Nigeria thus advanced to the next round of the 2015 All Africa Games qualifier against Zambia on a 6-1 aggregate having won the first leg in Libreville 4-1.
”Today (Saturday) we might not have played to the expectations of Nigerians, but I appeal that they have patience with us, we will come back stronger,” the former Super Eagles coach pleaded.
Late goals by defender Seun Oduduwa and Ajayi Junior ensured Nigeria did the double over Gabon at the Abuja National Stadium.
Siasia said his team lacked confidence and were nervous playing at home.
”I don’t know what happened to my boys today. They were jittery in front of the fans in Abuja and I don’t know why,” he admitted.
“But thank God that we won but I would have to work on their confidence because we are at home and we should be doing better because in Gabon they were relaxed and got the goals.”
