Two presidential aspirants in the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwakwanso have promised to take Nigeria out of the woods if elected in next year’s elections.
The presidential aspirants made public their plans when they visited delegates in Rivers State at the weekend in Port Harcourt.
Abubakar told delegates that his past work and political experience arms him with the best profile to move the country forward.
He identified poor leadership as the bane of Nigeria’s security and economic problems adding that, “when you give somebody a job he is not prepared then he messes himself up. This country has abundant presidential materials.”
On why the delegates should vote him to be the party’s standard bearer in next year’s presidential elections, Atiku said, “I have the longest political experience more than others which has been characterize by struggle for the rule of law.”
As an advocate of democratic governance in the country, the former vice president reminded the delegates that he refused to accept political appointments from the various military regimes.
He revealed that he was one of those who fought hard to truncate tenure elongation, and urged the delegates to vote wisely.
The Adamawa born politician also promised to address Niger Delta problems, “the blueprint I prepared for Niger Delta was what late President Yar’dua  implemented, but they are implementing wrongly today.”
Atiku however promised the delegates that he would support anybody that emerges after the primaries billed for 10th December in Lagos.
Governor Rabiu Kwakwanso during his visit blamed the federal government People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for poor leadership, urging party members to vote them out in next year’s elections.
“They lack capacity in Abuja” Kwakwanso observed “things are getting worse and everybody is yearning for change, the answer is APC. The answer is Rabiu Kwakwanso. He is the Rotimi of Northern Nigeria.”
With political experience spanning over 20 years and current success in transforming Kano State, he averred that he was the best, adding “I know the happenings and pains in the party.”
Governor Chibuike Amaechi enumerated measures to ensure APC’s victory in next year’s presidential elections, stating that party members should stand up to resist rigging.
“We must be ready to force change. We must be ready to force transparent elections. If APC thinks they will win elections the normal way then they will lose,” Amaechi maintained.
He assured Atiku and Kwakwanso that Rivers delegates will meet and agree on the right choice to make at the primary elections, noting that three things will inform their choice, these are, “what the aspirant will do for Rivers State, for Bayelsa State and for Nigeria.”
