Amodu Slams Keshi, Urges Him To Quit

Nigeria Football Federa                tion (NFF) technical director Shuaibu, Amodu has dismissed Stephen Keshi as a failure and as such should walk away as the country’s coach.
Amodu maintained that the former Mali tactician, who was his assistant between 2001 and 2002, must quit his post to keep his reputation intact.
Keshi has largely been regarded as a failure after failing to secure a ticket for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations holding in Equatorial Guinea.
He was only able to lead the team to two victories in the qualifiers as South Africa and Congo got the tickets to be in the finals in Equatorial Guinea.
Amodu, who was announced as the Super Eagles coach after Keshi was sacked but later declined after the Presidency reinstated Keshi, said: “As a coach, you are as good as your last game. If as at when the NFF asked me to take over from him and I reckoned that it would affect my reputation if I failed, I expect any professional coach to assume the same position now.
“He alone will decide whether he has a reputation or not. If he has a reputation, he should walk out of the job, but if he doesn’t, he should stay.”
Amodu further said: “We all know now that he has failed. And to keep him on the job is a bad precedent. Because when Siasia failed we came on air and told the whole country that he failed he should go. Jonathan could not save him.
“If we wanted to leave on those standards, then what is good for the goose is good for the ……. But again it’s my personal opinion, it is not official but the NFF would decide what they want to do with him.
“But the situation as it is today for me if I were him, does not permit that I continue on the job. I would just say ‘thank you Nigerians, sorry I failed, I can try another time but for now let another man try’.”
