South East
S’East Needs 10,000 Transformers
The Enugu Electric
ity Distribution Company ( EEDC) that the South East zone requires is not less than 10,000 transformers.
This was stated in Aba, Abia State by the EEDC’s Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer , Mr Robert Dickerman, during a meeting with consumers in the area.
At the meeting attended by traders and other residents, Dickerman explained that EEDC only distributes the quantum of power made available to it by the transmission company since it neither generates nor transmits power
According to him, Nigeria has big electricity supply problem in the face of rapidly growing population, but added that within a year, “we have injected 12 transformers into Aba plus another six recently. EEDC does not neglect any areas and we suffer vandalism of our installations which we can’t police effectively.”
On the issue of Pre-Paid meters to check arbitrary billing, the consumers were assured that it would be effected after what it called the ongoing Consumer Enumeration exercise to determine needs.
Chairman of EEDC, Chief Emeka Offor, who is also the Grand Patron of the Abia State Amalgamated Traders Association ( ASMATA) assured them of his company’s strive to serve them desirably .
