Imo Gov Hails Tambuwal’s Defection

ernors’ Forum, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has hailed the defection of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the decision is in order.
In a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, at the weekend, Okorocha said: “With the action of Tambuwal, it means there is hope for the emergence of a great Nigeria. There is light at the end of the tunnel. The Speaker has just set the pace, and it is expected that all lovers of Nigeria in the National Assembly would follow his good example and join the APC in the laudable project of recovering Nigeria and making it a great nation we all can be proud of.
The statement reads in part: “Tambuwal’s defection calls for applause and commendations from Nigerians of goodwill. We commend him. He has taken the best of decisions and actions. With his action, he has demonstrated overt love for his country, and both history and posterity will give him favourable verdict.
”The signs are everywhere that Nigerians are desirous of the construction of a new country, which the APC has come to undertake. Those talking about Tambuwal’s removal as Speaker do not love Nigeria as a nation and Nigerians as a people. They only love the paraphernalia of power. We will give Tambuwal all the support he needs for demonstrating an exceptional charity for his beloved country.
“He is a big asset to Nigeria. He is a big asset to the APC. We are happy to have him in our great party, where action is at the moment. APC is a new party for new Nigerians like Tambuwal. It is not a party for those who do not believe that Nigeria can be great.
