The crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may have deepened following the disqualification of the 16 aggrieved governorship aspirants who protested the November 1 ward congresses in the state  and other governorship aspirants by the screening panel.
The Tide learnt that the South South zone screening committee disqualified many of the Governorship aspirants from contesting Saturday’s governorship primaries in Rivers state under the platform of the PDP, leaving only four aspirants for the primaries.
Sources hinted that those who scaled the screening hurdle were Chief Nyesom Wike, Chief Pawariso Harsfall, Henry Odein Ajomogobia (SAN) and Hon Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja while the other aspirants were disqualified for allegedly not being members of the party.
Speaking to the Tide, one of the aspirants who was disqualified, Prince Tonye Princewill accused the committee of dancing to the tune of the former Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike.
Princewill said he was disqualified for not being a member of the PDP, describing it as a crazy decision.
According to him, “This is madness. I am not a PDP member after I raised hundreds of millions for the party, donated a multi million Naira media center to the national headquarters and participated in all affairs of the party I was invited to?
” I am not a member but you collected millions for a PDP form. If this decision is true, this marks a new low in our state’s politics”, he said.
The Governorship aspirant said he was yet to decide on what to do next either to appeal the party decision or quit politics or defect to another party
