Abia Senators Dismiss PDP Ward Congresses
All three Senators repre
senting Abia State and some governorship aspirants as well as some party chieftains have alleged that there was no congress held yesterday by the Peoples Democratic Party in the 184 electoral wards in the state.
The aggrieved party chieftains who addressed a press conference yesterday in Umuahia dismissed the congress as “ a charade and shameless caricature of democracy”.
Similarly a House of Representative aspirant, Chief Anthony Agbaezure alleged that the results had already been written 48 hours before “the purported charade,” vowing to challenge the outcome before the electoral appeal panel .
But when contacted on phone, the state’s Publicity Secretary of PDP Chief Uchechi Ogbuka, insisted that there was congress in the state, challenging those with contrary views to produce their evidence.
Similarly, Special Adviser to Gov. Theodore Orji on Media , Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue, dismissed the allegation that government officials brought fake result sheets to the electoral panel at a hotel as “ the figment of the imagination of the grieved politicians,” saying that during political season “all sorts of allegations are fabricated.”
He said that the governor is a committed democrat and could not be involved in any electoral fraud, dismissing the allegation as a blatant lie aimed at whipping up sentiments.
