2015: APC Will Shock Jonathan – Amaechi
Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has told President Goodluck Jonathan that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not a party on billboards.
Speaking shortly after unveiling the 8,000-capacity stadium built by Degema Local Government Council in Degema at the weekend, Amaechi said the party will prove the president wrong during its mass rally on October 25th at the new stadium in Greater Port Harcourt City.
“We shall get 69,000 supporters into that stadium, to show Mr. President that we are not a party of posters,” he declared.
He urged the people of Kalabari kingdom to vote out President Goodluck Jonathan as he cannot represent their interest and the state at large.
”If Mr President is our brother, let him do our road, let him return our Soku oil wells…Otherwise, what you will do to have a road here is to vote out PDP.”
Enjoining them to unite and defend their kingdom as well as shun those that will betray them, the governor insisted that they must resist corrupt politicians from getting to power again.
He lamented the deplorable state of the Emohua-Abonnema road, and attributed it to President Jonathan, who prevented him from repairing it.
He urged the Kalabaris not to abandon the Soku people but should hold on to their natural resources.
Amaechi commended the council chairman for building, what he noted, was a feat that has not been achieved in any local government area in the state, and assured him that the state government will redeem the N1million promised him for connecting Bille and Ifoko communities by November this year.
Earlier, the Chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Mr. Ibigoni Daddy Pukima stated that the 8,000-capacity stadium will provide a serene and conducive atmosphere for the people, especially the youth to exhibit their sporting prowess.
He enumerated some of his achievements in the area such as the building of ICT centre, provision of potable water, rural electrification and transportation, and lauded the state governor and his wife for the support given him.
Highpoints of the programme was the observation of a minute silence in honour of late Tonye Harry, and a football match between Team Rivers and Team Degema, which ended 1-0 in favour of Team Rivers.
