Igwe: Okorocha Commiserates With The Sun Newspaper
The Governor of Imo
State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has on behalf of the government and good people of the state expressed deep-rooted regret over the unexpected death of the Vice-chairman, The Sun Newspapers, Mr. Dimgba Igwe.
Governor Okorocha said the death of Mr. Igwe last Saturday further teaches a serious lesson about this life – that we all live at the mercy of God.
Given the option, Mr. Igwe would have preferred to remain alive, but he was not offered that alternative by his creator.
He remarked that politicians and political office holders, who talk and act as if the world belongs to them, should learn a big lesson from Mr. Igwe’s death.
The governor said he would only be remembered now by his legacies both in his private and public life, and urged leaders in the country especially the political class to always be conscious of what they would be remembered for when they must have closed their eyes in death.
The governor said Mr. Igwe practised journalism with the fear of God and had also left an indelible mark as a journalist, and wished his gentle soul a peaceful repose.
The governor also advised the management of The Sun newspaper and the family of Mr. Igwe to allow the scripture to guide them in mourning the death of their beloved one, Mr. Dimgba Igwe.
Okorocha also extended his condolences to the former Deputy-Governor of the State, Chief Mrs. Ada Okwuonu, over the death of his beloved husband, Engr. Chilaka Okwuonu, describing his death as regrettable because the family and the people of the state would have wished he lived on.
The governor urged the former deputy-governor to take the death of her husband as one of the things in life, and prayed that God would give her the needed courage to endure the husband’s death.
