Wike Yet To Decide On Guber Ambition
The Minister of State
for Education and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike, says he would make his gubernatorial ambition known after due consultation with party stakeholders in the state. He also denied his alleged membership of the Ogboni confraternity.
Chief Wike, who spoke to newsmen in Port Harcourt recently said he would decide whether or not to contest the 2015 governorship election after due consultation with stakeholders of his party in the state, stressing that his interest was to liberate the State.
According to him, “Assuming I want to run for the election, why will somebody want to tell me not to run? What kind of politics is that?”
He boasted that he has all it takes to contest for the 2015 governorship election in the state, adding nobody can stop him from contesting after he had made up his mind to do so.
He asked, “Those of them from the Rivers South East Senatorial District, Eleme, Tai, Khana, Gokana, Opobo and Andoni who want to contest the primaries under the PDP, which of them can defeat me?”
On his alleged membership of the Ogboni cult group, the former Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House, traced the allegation to his political detractors, saying he is a son of a Pentecostal pastor.
It will be recalled that some PDP chieftains in the state were suspended for kicking against Wike’s governorship ambition on the premise that it is the turn of the riverine people to produce the next governor.
