The assistant coach of
Rivers Angels Football Club of Port Harcourt, Whyte Ogbondah, has expressed satisfaction over the team’s qualification to the finals of the 2014 Women Federation Cup.
Ogbondah stated this Friday, shortly after the team’s 2-1 victory at the Semi Finals with Delta Queens of Asaba, in Abuja.
He said that his team played well, but missed many scoring chances in the game.
“We made sure that we progressed to the finals since our boys, Dolphins FC qualified yesterday. They showed us a lot of support and that aided our victory,” Ogbonda said.
Meanwhile, the game saw Cameroon-born defender, Catty Bou scoring the first goal in the 38th minute as she noded home a cross from a corner kick taken by the veteran striker, Stella Mbachu.
At the resumption of the second half, Ngozi Ebere increased the goal tally of the Angels in just two minutes into the game, with a short from almost 40 yards.
The four-time FA Cup Champions continued their dominance of the match but, missed many scoring opportunities despite the full support they had from their Port Harcourt counterpart, Dolphins and supporters who stayed behind after their victory against Prince FC last Thursday.
Rivers Angels will now face Sunshine Queens of Akure who defeated last year’s finalist Nasarawa Amazons FC, in the final battle scheduled to hold on 16th of August, in Lagos.
